Breast cancer is one of the most diagnosed cancers - affecting 1 in 8 women.

Groups of cancer cells may form in the breast and can then invade other surrounding tissue or spread to other places in the body (metastasize). Cancer cells grow when a cell's DNA is damaged. The cause of this damage has not been identified.

image of the NPABC Breast Cancer aard.Our Breast Care Centers at Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center and Methodist Jennie Edmundson have been accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). This designation is only granted to those centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest quality care to patients with diseases of the breast.  Each center must undergo a rigorous evaluation and review of its performance and compliance with the NAPBC standards. 

The Breast Care Center at Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center was the first program certified in Nebraska and has continuously been awarded since 2009. The Methodist Jennie Edmundson Cancer Center is the only breast cancer program in southwest Iowa accredited by the American College of Surgeons.
