Brain Cancer
Cancers affecting the brain and central nervous system may develop originally in the brain - called primary tumors - or may spread to the brain or central nervous system after developing elsewhere in the body - called secondary tumors.
We offer Gamma Knife Surgery which is considered the gold standard of treatment for brain cancers. This minimally-invasive surgery is able to treat the smallest of targets deep within the brain. No cutting is performed. Instead, precisely focused beams of radiation target the cancer - and not the healthy surrounding tissue. Only one session is required and patients normally go home shortly after their treatment.
We treat small and medium-sized, malignant (cancerous) or benign (non-cancerous) tumors of the brain such as:
- Acoustic neuromas
- Brain metastases
- Craniopharyngiomas
- Gliomas
- Meningiomas
- Pituitary and pineal tumors
- Blood vessel abnormalities within the brain
- Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs)
- Functional and movement disorders
- Trigeminal neuralgia (facial pain)
